Channings Hotel comprises five informal Edwardian townhouses on the edge of Edinburgh's city centre. One of these, 14 South Learmonth Gardens, was home (April 1904 - July 1910) to the Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and his wife, Emily; their former reception rooms now form our Meetings and Events Suite. We hope that Shackleton's enterprising spirit and leadership skills will prove an inspiration when it comes to taking the Kingsleigh and its adjoining Library for your own meeting, conference or special occasion.

In addition, the Channings Conservatory Restaurant and Wine Bar are offered for exclusive use, subject to availability.

Why it's so good
Channings is located in Edinburgh's delightful 'urban village' of Stockbridge, close to the city centre. This is a short taxi ride from both the business districts and the central shopping and sightseeing attractions of Edinburgh.

Flexibility of space: use either the Kingsleigh, or the Library or the conservatory  or both. Depending on the number of guests/delegates, these can be configured for a meeting, presentation, break-out area, or drinks or coffee reception.

Relaxed, peaceful, inviting atmosphere created by warm wood panelling, high levels of natural light, gardens, and exceptionally friendly, professional staff.

Channings is licensed to hold religious and Humanist ceremonies, so you can tie the knot here and move straight on to the reception.

Your own dedicated Events Coordinator will help you with ideas, planning and execution of your event: this could include flowers, stationery, candles, drinks (design your own cocktail!) and entertainment. We are well known for our attention to detail.

We have the flexibility to cater for different styles of event. Light refreshments, canapés, buffet options, the full, sumptuous dinner: we do all these to the highest standard, leaving you free to focus on the meeting or conference, or relax and enjoy the party.

Channings has 41 luxury rooms and suites in which we can accommodate your guests, friends or colleagues, at the best available rate.

We can arrange for the supply of flipcharts, TV and DVD, conference phone, LCD data projector and any other necessities for your meeting or conference.
