The Whites:
1. Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Azienda Vinicola Arche DOC – Italy 2008 £15.50
Super soft, ripe Trebbiano with lovely white pear and apple on the palate. The finish is herbaceous however the fruit shines through making this a super aperitif.
2. Sauvignon Blanc, Las Condes - Chile 2009 £16.00
Fresh stone fruits on the nose, followed by a zingy citrus fruit character with a hint of creaminess on the palate.
3. Chenin Blanc, The Veldt Range – South Africa 2009 £17.50
A really well balanced wine: the aromas are reminiscent of melon and lychees with soft tropical fruit flavours dominating the palate and an elegant, refreshing acidity on the finish.
4. Pinot Grigio, La Casada – Italy 2009 £18.00
Wonderful cream soda nose, crisp lively acidity backed by classic flavours of melon, peach kernels and a slightly spicy finish.
5. Chardonnay, Santa Ema – Chile 2009 £20.00
The cooler Casablanca region is perfect for the production of high quality Chardonnay. Tropical fruits of banana and pineapple dominate in this clean and crisp wine.
6. Verdhelo, Don Cristobal – Argentina 2009 £21.50
Deliciously fruity aromas with floral tones and freshness highlighted by balanced acidity in the mouth. Zesty, vibrant and refreshing.
7. Sauvignon Blanc, Francesca Bay – New Zealand 2009 £27.95
A zesty and delicious wine from Marlborough. Flavours of passion fruit and gooseberry combine with mouth-watering acidity, creating a truly refreshing wine.
8. Petit Chablis, Domaine du Colombier - Burgundy, France 2008 £30.95
Classic Petit Chablis. The nose is loaded with minerals, citrus, white flower aromas with hints of wet stone. Minerally, tight and racy with cool flavours and perfect balance.
9. Amplus Sauvignon Blanc - Leyda Valley, Chile 2009 £29.50
A particularly fresh style of Sauvignon which retains all the aromatic green flavours but has a lick of fresh minerals through it. The wine has more weight than you would expect from a Sauvignon but is still elegant and crisp on the finish.
10. Macon Uchizy, Domaine Talmard - Burgundy, France 2008 £33.50
No oak, just fresh green apple and nut flavour with just a touch of honey. Full of character and clean fruit, this is one of the best value white Burgundies around.
11. Sancerre Blanc Domaine Brochard - Loire, France 2008 £34.95
The wine offers grapefruit, lime, spice and mineral notes. On the palate you find fresh citrus, honey, spices, minerals and even a hint of herbal teas. Over all this is beautifully balanced with good length.
12. Pinot Grigio Tolloy, Trentino-Alto Adige - Italy 2008 £24.95
An Italian gem. The cool, crisp air of Italy’s Alto Adige imparts a unique quality on the grapes that pierces through the delicate bouquet. Soft fruit unfolds on the palate. With its elegant mouth feel, this is classic Pinot Grigio.
13. Chenin Blanc, Springfontein Estate - South Africa 2008 £32.50
Lovely rich aromas of apricot & pear drops. Creamy and spicy on the palate with huge length. It could be served alongside a top white burgundy and would still shine.
14. Pouilly Fumé Patrice Moreux - Loire, France 2008 £35.45
Wonderful concentration of fresh gooseberry and cut grass aromas with classic smokey, apple tart nose.
The Rosés:
16. Cabernet Rosé, Las Condes - Chile 2009 £16.95
Vibrant pink in colour with amazing floral aromas, this wine has a distinct freshness and strawberry character.
17. Les Ormes de Lagrange Rosé - Bordeaux, France 2007 £25.95
This is the traditional ‘Clairette’ where the original name of Claret comes from. Lovely deep pink red in colour, soft, full blackcurrant fruit bursting out. A big Rosé, but combined with elegance and restraint!
The Reds:
18. Sangiovese Rubicone, Azienda Vinicola Arche - Italy 2008 £15.50
Lovely soft, spicy Sangiovese. Dark ruby in colour with herbaceous cherries and violets on the nose and a good medium weight palate. This is a great Italian entry level to start your climb to the heady heights of Chianti.
19. Shiraz, The Veldt Range – South Africa 2009 £16.50
A soft and voluptuous Shiraz displaying ripples of spice and black pepper. A subtle nuance of oak gives additional body and structure to this eminently drinkable wine.
20. Cabernet Sauvignon, Santa Ema - Chile 2008 £17.50
Plums and velvety notes from mature tannins give this wine a varietal character that combines perfectly with the vanilla, toasty wood of maturation. A wine of great structure and complexity.
21. Primitivo, La Casada - Italy 2008 £18.50
Rich, fulsome, plummy fruit & spice aromas lead to a juicy wine of rich tannins, great length and delicious concentrated flavour.
22. Cotes du Rhone, Parcelles 38, Vignobles Jerome Quiot – France 2008 £23.50
A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, this is serious Cotes du Rhone, being full flavoured and having the structure to support the ample fruit. Delicious drinking now.
23. Merlot Reserva, Santa Ema – Chile 2007 £24.50
Mature blackberry and blueberry flavours together with sweet, toasty notes. A perfect union of fruit and wood.
24. Pinot Noir, Francesca Bay – Marlborough, New Zealand 2008 £25.50
Grown on selected Marlborough vineyards and carefully and selectively harvested by hand. Aged in oak casks, this fine wine has a vibrant colour and a complex abundance of strawberry, cherry and dark berry fruit.
25. Chianti Riserva, Cantine Bonacchi - Italy 2004 £28.00
The result of careful selection the Chianti Riserva is aged in oak barrels, which gives it a deep ruby colour, with garnet hues, an intense, lingering aroma and dry, velvety flavour.
26. Rioja Reserva Ondarre - Spain 2004 £34.50
Aromas of oak ageing with hints of spices. Strong attack, good backbone, full-flavoured, with well integrated long-lasting tannins. Long and persistent finish.
27. Les Cent Rangs, Chateau Lagrange Les Tour – Bordeaux, France 2005 £32.50
Full bodied and complex. A really wonderful wine. A hint of smokiness on the nose, initial raspberry fruit flavours give way to richer, denser black fruits.
28. Shiraz, Bloodstone, Gemtree - McLaren Vale, Australia 2008 £29.50
An outstanding wine with terrific ripeness, loads of black fruits and cherry aromas, with hints of vanilla. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a delicious finish.
29. Château de Roques - Puisseguin St Emilion, France 2004 £32.50
This is classic St Emilion showing deep plum and blackcurrant fruit with hints of leather and lovely dry, but soft tannins.
30. Crozes Hermitage, Etienne Barret - Rhone, France 2008 £35.00
100% Syrah with classic aromas of bramble and a little spice. Oak flavours are restrained to let the fruit shine through, a characteristic of Etienne’s wines. Medium to full bodied and easy to drink.
31. Sangiovese, Ceravolo Estate, Adelaide Plains - Australia 2006 £34.00
You will be astonished by the fabulous, bursting flavours of fruit, of cherries, plums, blackcurrants. It’s also beautifully balanced. Unbelievably good value.
32. Pinotage, Springfontein Estate - South Africa 2006 £33.00
Springfontein is an organic estate to watch, keeping production low and literally hand-crafting the wines. Red cherry and raspberry with pine tar and a great acidic tingle. Ripe and very good.
Champagne and Sparkling:
36. Prosecco, barroco - Italy NV £22.95
Wonderfully dry, crisp and refreshing sparkling wine from Northern Italy. Citrus and apple notes dominate the palate, an elegant mousse and finish make this wine the perfect aperitif.
37. Champagne Poilvert Jacques Brut - France NV £38.00
A subtle and elegant wine with floral aromas and on the palate a freshness and harmony which is ideal served as an aperitif but can be enjoyed throughout the meal.
38. Louis Roederer Brut - France NV £45.00
This champagne is rich, soft, elegant and creamy with wonderful biscuity finish.
39 Louis Roederer Brut Rosé - France 2004 £69.50
A light, airy Champagne, more elegant than vinous, that perfectly captures the essence of the 2004 vintage in Champagne: naturally harmonious, delicate and flawless.
